About
During the process of creating a finished piece, I sometimes use photography. I'm not a professional photographer, but I create photographic structures to use in my work.
Having worked in visual effects for films, I double expose some images and composite them. When printing the final image, I select the best papers to enhance image sharpness and luminosity.
The compositing process allows for using the duotone process. It's a great creative tool for enhancing tonal quality and depth. In some cases I draw and paint backgrounds.
The finished prints are generally 16"x20", or 20"x24"
I only make a limited edition of 15 prints per subject. after a couple of proofs.
I'm a purist by heart. tradition and my education dating back to the 60's in San Francisco inspire my work. During school, I worked in Galleries and studied with artists whose works spanned a couple of decades from expressionism to modern and pop art.
